High levels of lead found in fidget spinners

High levels of lead found in fidget spinners

They say the product isn't a toy and is not marketed to young kids, so it's fine.

The US Public Interest Research Group on Thursday released a report stating that Target stores are selling some fidget spinners with high levels of lead.

"As a result, the fidget spinners identified are not regulated as toys or children's products and are not required to meet children's product standards", she said, per CBS News.

Federal laws limit the amount of lead in children's products to 100 parts per million (ppm).

Top 5 doesn't change in second edition of College Football Playoff rankings
While one-loss Oklahoma and TCU are ahead of Miami and Wisconsin due to their strength of schedule, Washington lags behind. The top five were the same this week with Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame and Clemson occupying the playoff spots.

PIRG found 33,000 parts per million (ppm) of lead in the center circle and 22,000 ppm in the arm of one model called "Fidget Wild Premium Spinner Brass". Another product, the Fidget Wild Premium Spinner Metal, had 1,300 ppm.

The products are supplied by Bulls-I-Toys, based in Des Moines, Iowa.

A spokesman for Bulls-I-Toy sent a statement to the Post-Dispatch saying "Safety is one of our top priorities".

Prolonged lead exposure isn't good for anyone, but it is particularly bad for kids, as it can cause developmental problems, cognitive losses and even death. Now, new research shows that some of the popular spinners sold at Target contain dangerously high levels of lead. That's because the two Fidget Wild Premium Spinner varieties are labeled for those age 14+. But after some risky incidents involving the popular gizmos, the CPSC issued new fidget spinner safety guidance for consumers and businesses.

Running for election mere months ago, British Prime Minister Theresa May's slogan was "strong and stable government". Britain, alongside the most of the worldwide community, considers the Golan occupied territory.

Fidget spinners are supposed to be calming and fun, especially for students struggling to focus.

In the report, the lab results were tested twice to confirm the results.

Target did not immediately respond to request for comment.

"The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has reviewed and explicitly defined fidget spinners as 'general use products.' They are not defined by the CPSC as toys", a Target spokesperson told CBS News.

Jameis Winston (shoulder) to miss next few weeks
The men in Black and Gold are entering a critical four-game stretch where every team they face has a shot at the playoffs. Tampa Bay was held to 200 yards, with starting quarterback Jameis Winston reduced to a taunting child from the sideline.

"The two fidget spinners cited in your letter are clearly marked on the package 'appropriate for customers 14 and older, ' and are not marketed to children", Target's Jennifer Silberman wrote to the researchers in an email shared with Business Insider.
