LaVar Ball, LiAngelo Ball's bombastic father, initially dismissed the possible charges against his son saying that the arrest "ain't that big a deal".

Police spoke to multiple players from both teams and inspected bus cargo compartments before arresting Ball, Riley and Hill.

Police arrested the three at UCLA's hotel.

According to ESPN, nearly 20 Chinese police swarmed UCLA's hotel, the Hyatt Hangzhou, around 8 a.m. local time Tuesday.

And now it appears that the authorities may have been investigating shoplifting when conducting that search.
