Weird iPhone bug frustrates users typing the letter 'i'

Many frustrated users took to Twitter to complain about the glitch.

A freakish predictive text error has left some iPhone users unable to type the word "I".

The iOS 11.2 probably won't deliver new emojis, but it's shaping up to be another solid milestone release for Apple's mobile devices. However, some iOS software fall short of end-user expectations and hence necessitates for production of an upgrade to fix the shortcomings.

In a support document, Apple pinned the problem on the newly released iOS 11.1, and suggested a workaround.

Use the iPhone's Text Replacement function to correct the "i" bug.

"For some reason inside the keyboard replacement settings pane, typing an uppercase I works".

Are you getting a odd symbol when you try to type the letter "I" on your iPhone? Instead of auto-correcting to a capital, it's instead replaced with the letter "A" and a unicode symbol.

Most of the features should make it into the final iOS 11.2 release though Apple could hold some back for additional testing if needed.

The iOS 11.1 is a bag full of goodies.

Chances are if you updated your iPhone or iPad to Apple's latest operating system, whenever you type the letter "i" it autocorrects it to the letter "a" with a symbol next to it.

But a twist to the upgrade is the "killing" of battery life linked to iOS 11.1 as expressed by lots who users who expressed their frustration on social media.

It's not uncommon for new software to have bugs. You can download a third-party keyboard app to override the Apple keyboard and type "i" freely without issue.
