Florida State University bans Greek life after student death

Police are investigating the death of a Florida State University fraternity pledge at a chapter party.

"I want to send a serious message, I really do", said Thrasher.

"Like most universities, we worry about alcohol and drug abuse and other unsafe behaviors, and we are doing all we can to educate our students", Thrasher said.

Intel and AMD are forming an unholy laptop chip alliance
But AMD recently launched chips that represent the first real competition for Intel in that market for years. The goal, Intel explains, is to deliver the power that discrete graphics offer, but in a thinner package.

During the suspension, the only events Greek life members can conduct are meetings with the university or their national chapter.

Coffey was found unresponsive Friday at about 10:25 a.m.at a home on Buena Vista Drive about a mile from campus, Tallahassee police said. The 20-year-old was last seen at a house party the night before.

The university has more than 700 organizations outside the campus' Greek life. "There must be a new culture, and our students must be full participants in creating it".

Jaguars RB Fournette, C Linder set to return from injuries
As the Bengals came off the field, they were still barking at the Jaguars sideline as boos rained down. The Jacksonville Jaguars benched Leonard Fournette for Week 9 for a violation of a team rule.

FSU President John Thrasher announced the suspension on Monday, according to the university's Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. They will, however, be allowed to stay in their houses and have meal service.

Coffey, a Pi Kappa Phi fraternity pledge, was given medical treatment but died on the scene. "We appreciate the partnership and support from the Division of Student Affairs during this hard time". Thrasher also banned alcohol at all student organization events during the suspension.

"It's awful to see the whole system suspended, especially organizations who do not participate in hazing, however, there is a real problem in this system and I'm glad it is being addressed", an FSU senior in Greek life told The Tab. "They will have to participate in the solution", Thrasher said.
