National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has announced the coalition's decision to vacate its presidential candidature from the presidential election slated for 26th October 2017.

Kenyatta was displeased with the Supreme Court's ruling calling them crooks.

It stated that candidates in the fresh election would only be President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mr Odinga.

Violence flared across the country during the first election, with 24 people killed in political riots.

The law requires that a candidate for a presidential election formally informs the IEBC that he has withdrawn from the race, within three days after nominations.

In a related development, President Uhuru Kenyatta and deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday voiced strong support for amendments to Kenya's electoral laws, to fill the gaps identified by Kenya's Supreme Court when it annulled the August 8 Presidential elections.

In Nairobi, more than 3,000 protesters held demonstrations at the electoral commission headquarters while carrying placards saying "No Reforms, No elections".

"There will be no election if those who messed with the elections are still in office", Raila said.

The government-funded Kenya National Commission on Human Rights said it has documented 37 deaths, including a six 6-month-old baby who was clobbered by armed security agents in the opposition stronghold of Kisumu County during protests by Odinga supporters who rejected Kenyatta's victory.

NASA's main bone of contention is anchored on the electoral changes that were being debated by Parliament.

Opposition lawmakers had also said on Tuesday they would boycott the elections. He blamed them for irregularities during the August 8 vote.
