Senator Dianne Feinstein Will Seek Sixth Term At Age 84

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) officially declared her intention to run for reelection Monday, ending months of speculation about her future and probably avoiding what would have been an intense scramble of Golden State politics to succeed her. She is also a senior member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and was the first woman to lead that panel, from 2009 through 2015. Lots more to do: ending gun violence, combating climate change, access to healthcare. "I'm all in!" Feinstein tweeted.

Speaking on CBS' "Face the Nation" program, Ms. Feinstein, California Democrat who remains one of the nation's loudest voices in support of gun-control measures, said she fears anything short of an act of Congress will simply be overturned by the next president.

It is not often that Ireland's fans struggle to make themselves heard above the din, but they did at the start. Giampiero Ventura's misfiring Italy limped into the uncertainty of the qualifying playoffs.

Feinstein, who is 84, has been tight-lipped for months over whether or not she would seek a fifth term.

Still, Feinstein is expected to have the support of most establishment Democrats already in office, and she already has the endorsement of her fellow California Democrat in the Senate. She says changing regulations aren't enough and that Congress must pass a law to ensure permanent changes. Kevin de León, the president pro tempore of the California State Senate, is seen as a particularly strong challenger, and there are likely to be others. Adam B. Schiff, Eric Swalwell and Brad Sherman, were said to be preparing for a Senate campaign if Feinstein opted to retire.

Virgin Islands". "But the local support disappears eventually, and that's when they need the extra support". He described what he saw as "a human catastrophe" occurring on the island of 3.5 million.

Feinstein's old-school political sensibilities and foreign policy could be at odds with California, where increasingly young and diverse voters have demanded all-out opposition to Trump.

The announcement comes as no surprise given Feinstein's personality, and despite her needing to take a few days off in January to have a pacemaker installed. Kamala Harris and a rising star among liberals, quickly endorsed Feinstein in a Facebook post.
