NBA To Vote on Draft Lottery Reform, Player Rest Guidelines

The other somewhat monumental proposal is fixing the draft lottery to eliminate tanking, which is when bad teams, for lack of a better phrase, lose on objective.

The full scope of the proposal isn't known, but Woj has been able to tease out some details.

As it is now, the three worst teams have a 25, 19.9, and 15.6 percent chances, respectively, to notch the top overall pick. Under the new plan, those teams would each have a 14 percent chance, according to league sources.

Under the recommended plan for the Draft, the odds of getting the No. 1 pick would be smoothed out for the League's worst teams.

The total points have only been considered post-2010 - when the scoring system was restructured to what we see today. This weekend's grand prix has also played host to a series of interlinked engine and driver moves.

Who the hell knows if this proposal will actually get passed, or if it would even work to prevent tanking.

The plans will need a two-thirds majority by the board of governors to pass into legislation with a vote expected at a meeting in NY on September 28.

If the board does approve the new system, it would reportedly take effect at the 2019 draft lottery. The second-worst record could move to sixth, instead of only fifth under the current legislation.

Silver sees stars resting as such an issue because the league isn't giving the fan the best product. According to Wojnarowski, the "proposed guidelines for resting players will encourage teams to sit healthy players for home rather than away games, and discourage the practice during nationally televised games".

Unemployment dips only slightly in MA , but that's a first for 2017
US employers added 156,000 jobs overall last month, and the unemployment rate ticked up to 4.4 percent, still near a 16-year low. Indiana's total labor force is almost 3.34 million and the state had a 64.4 percent labor force participation rate.

"We do hope it will cut down on the resting of players in marquee games", Silver said in a statement released by the league in March.

"There is a recognition from teams that on one hand a certain amount of resting is just inevitable and appropriate to keep the players healthy, but that they shouldn't be resting multiple starters on the same night", Silver said at his NBA Finals press conference.

The proposal would also allow teams to drop further in the lottery.

In an effort to combat this, the National Basketball Association has already banished back-to-backs prior to live games, giving teams fewer reasons to rest their stars.
