The fresh hell facing Alonso's future

The fresh hell facing Alonso's future

McLaren is in its third troublesome year with Honda and there has been scant sign of any improvement.

However, one official announcement that won't be coming over the weekend, no matter what McLaren might have planned, is news of Fernando Alonso's future, for the Spaniard insists he is still weeks away from making a final decision.

Red Bull had meant to run a split strategy, with Renault engines in the senior team and Honda in the junior outfit.

Alonso's last victory came in 2013, and he has not mounted the podium since mid-2014, having been lumbered with uncompetitive machinery at McLaren-Honda.

Former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone says that the complex McLaren-Renault deal is done.

37 die in Iraq twin attacks
In July, Iraq retook control of Mosul, a key ISIL stronghold on the north, after a campaign of almost nine months. Mr al-Nassiri said the majority of the dead were expected to be Iranian pilgrims who were inside the restaurant.

Alonso past year skipped Monaco to race the Indy 500 but he seemed hopeful that he would contest the famous street grand prix next season.

The move also has ramifications in the driver market - both Red Bull drivers are potential title winners and neither Daniel Ricciardo nor Max Verstappen are likely to want to stay if the team use Honda engines and they are at the level they are now. Alonso, a two-time world champion, has been clear he would only remain with the team if they had a competitive engine.

"Whatever I do next year will be because I want to win". After the last three years with some struggles that we went through together, to have time for them to make decisions, to see the future for next year's auto.

He added: "Whatever happens, sooner or later at some point, you might see us again together".

"I've got seven races to do", he said.

Willie Nelson to Headline Star-Studded Hurricane Benefit in Austin
His wife, native Texan Susan Dell, added, "For us, this is personal". "We will be rebuilding for years to come". Now arrives announcement of a mega benefit headlined by Willie Nelson and Paul Simon .

However, the 2018 edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours takes place on the weekend between the Canadian and French GPs and Alonso cryptically added: "The Triple Crown is in the background, not only Indy".

Their move to Renault engines was dependent on Toro Rosso (now supplied by Renault) switching to Honda. "If I remain in Formula One it is because I can believe that I can win next year". "I'll be in Malaysia, I'll be racing until Abu Dhabi".

"For my fans and motorsport lovers, they will have a fantastic 2018 season", he said.

Renault had made clear it would work with McLaren only if they dropped the Italian team as they cannot provide engines to more than three teams - Renault, Red Bull and Toro Rosso now all run Renault engines - for fear of reliability issues. Priority is Formula 1, as I said before, winning here.
