President Trump to travel to Florida to survey damage from Hurricane Irma

President Donald Trump is praising the recovery efforts in Florida before departing for the state to survey hurricane damage from Irma.

An official confirmed to ABC News that a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands is also a possibility, and if it does occur, it wouldn't happen until next week at the earliest. The president, who will be joined by First Lady Melania Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, then heads 40 miles south to Naples to visit residents affected by the storm.

This is Trump's third visit in less than three weeks to a hurricane-damaged state.

Grenfell Tower inquiry: First public hearing opens
Demonstrators gathered outside the building where Sir Martin made his address carrying banners that read: "Justice for Grenfell". No evidence is being heard on the first day of the hearing and an interim report is expected by Easter.

Throughout the storms, Trump has been eager to project a high level of federal competence and to avoid pitfalls made by some of his predecessors in the face of natural disasters.

Trump has also taken pains to appear personally involved in planning and relief efforts, appearing in photos from the Oval Office with large maps and briefing materials spread across the wooden Resolute Desk.

On his second visit, to Texas and Louisiana, he was more hands-on.

Utility officials warned it could take 10 days or more for power to be fully restored. Other areas of the state, however, remain largely incapacitated, including the Florida Keys, where an estimated quarter of the homes were destroyed.
