New Delhi would be joining the digital payment bandwagon in India, Google is planning to launch an Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-based digital payment service application called "Tez" mostly by the next week.

TechCrunch pointed out that this would be a big deal because Google hasn't made a big push into payments outside of the United States and, while it has a strong consumer presence in India, revenue from the country is nothing to write home about. Apart from its own UPI-based service, Google may integrate third-party payment wallets like Paytm and MobiKwik to its platform too.

Although there's no information about the release date, Google might release it by the end of this year.

There is yet to be an official announcement about Google Tez.

On Wednesday, Google said its "Translate" app will support seven more Indian languages that include Bengali, Gujarati and Kannada, to enable users to translate even visuals like road signs in English to these regional languages.
