Kalanick Reportedly Cries As He Passes Torch To New Uber CEO

With a newly minted Uber CEO at the helm, there's hope Uber can improve and come out stronger after facing multiple crises - many of which are ongoing.

Backtracking on a controversial practice, ride-hailing company Uber said today that it will no longer track users' physical whereabouts after they have been dropped off.

Uber's largest shareholder, Benchmark, is suing Kalanick for fraud, accusing him of hiding numerous company's problems when he requested the power to appoint new board seats.

Khosrowshahi is set to greet Uber employees at an "all hands" meeting Wednesday, Uber's board wrote in an email sent to workers and also shared on the company's website.

Kalanick is off to DE to contest with one of Uber's major shareholders, Benchmark Capital, who believe that Kalanick is manipulating his position in an attempt to take back control of the company.

Whitman's rejection will be especially painful, given she publicly withdrew from Uber's CEO search in July but then quietly re-entered the fray late on Friday according to a New York Times report.

Khosrowshahi wasn't known to the public to be among the top candidates for the job. However, just shortly after plucking a new chief, Uber has also picked up a brand-new scandal altogether.

His family immigrated to the USA from Iran in the 1970s, and while at Expedia, the company entered contributed a declaration in a lawsuit filed by Washington state against the government over Trump's Muslim travel ban, the Times reports.

Khosrowshahi is credited with turning Expedia into a global travel services behemoth, winning admiration from employees along the way.
