Nemanja Matic "very happy" after opening-game win against West Ham United

Nemanja Matic

Nemanja Matic was bought by Manchester United this summer for his defensive qualities, but he showed off another side of his game against West Ham on Sunday.

Not only has the Serbian contributed defensively, but his attacking runs have gave United another dimension in midfield, with one moment in particular leaving Old Trafford "oohing and aahing".

The Serbia worldwide midfielder put in a man-0f-the-match performance in his Red Devils league debut, dominating the midfield alongside Paul Pogba as Jose Mourinho's men comfortably ran out 4-0 winners at Old Trafford.

Wenger admits Arsenal will sell amid Alexis rumours
As far as the wing-back positions are concerned, the likes of Bellerin and Kolasinac will probably start. "I will always play a team that has a good chance to win the next game", Wenger added.

Although it is still the beginning of the season, Mourinho's side has had a completely different sense of confidence with Matic in their ranks.

And as the United squad flocked to Lukaku at the corner flag, Mata made a point - quite literally - of singling out Matic's role in the goal.

The Serbian has won every aerial duel during the opening 45 minutes as well as every dribble.

Following Matic's Man of the Match performance, the Manchester Evening News report Mourinho said: "It depends on what is happening or what was happening behind doors and we don't know".

France striker Anthony Martial scored Manchester United's third goal before Paul Pogba wrapped up a 4-0 victory over the Hammers. I think we all owe a big thank you to Antonio Conte for his generosity.
