Man arrested over vehicle attack in Virginia

President Donald Trump sparked a backlash Saturday when he suggested "many sides" were to blame for the deadly violence at a white nationalist rally in downtown Charlottesville, Virginia.

The crash happened just a few hours after a auto plowed into a crowd of people peacefully protesting against the white nationalist rally. According to AP, the individual suspected of being behind the wheel of the vehicle during the attack is in custody.

The death toll includes two Virginia State Police officers who were killed when their helicopter crashed near Charlottesville. They have not released his identity.

Trooper-Pilot Burkes would have turned 41 years old Sunday, Aug. 13.

"We are in a very risky place right now", he said.

Korea: 3.5 million sign up to fight against US
Ghosts of the last time America went to war in Korea have been brought back to life through the work of a British electrician. Over 100,000 citizens gathered in Pyongyang to support the government's pledge of retaliation against the United States.

One protester was arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct, she said, adding that "I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the hateful behavior displayed by torch-bearing protesters that marched on our grounds this evening".

The mayor of Charlottesville said that one person died. It remains unclear if the driver of the vehicle has been apprehended.

President Donald Trump says there's "no place" in the United States for the kind of violence that's broken out at a white nationalist rally in Virginia.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan issued a stronger statement on his Facebook page, saying: "Violence, hate, and bigotry of all kinds must be confronted and condemned".

According to a report by CNN, officials said that the accident happened where a "Unite the Right" rally of white nationalist and other right-wing groups had been scheduled take place. Officially, the rally was sparked by a decision to remove a monument to Confederate Gen. The park was formerly known as Lee Park.

In Charlottesville, neo-Nazis waved swastika flags, sported Hitler T-shirts and carried signs advocating racism, xenophobia and homophobia.

"Alt-right" figure Richard Spencer and former Ku Klux Klan Imperial Wizard David Duke were among the leaders in attendance. "He said nothing in that statement that would cause any portion of his base to get the message that it's not a mark of American greatness to drive a auto into a crowd of people sending their bodies everywhere".

Members of the clergy at the local church could be seen linking arms in a bid to block one of the entrances to the park, while alt-right protesters chanted "White lives matter" as they marched through.

The chaos boiled over at what is believed to be the largest group of white nationalists to come together in a decade: the governor declared a state of emergency, police dressed in riot gear ordered people out and helicopters circled overhead.

Officially, the rally never began, though the crowds from both sides clashed.
