AI can be more unsafe than North Korea, believes Elon Musk

Tesla CEO Elon Musk fired off a new and ominous warning on Friday about artificial intelligence, suggesting the emerging technology poses an even greater risk to the world than a nuclear conflagration with North Korea.

It also said that the two "reiterated their mutual commitment to denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula".

Chinese President Xi Jinping made a plea for cool-headedness over escalating tensions between the U.S. and North Korea in a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday, urging both sides to avoid words or actions that could worsen the situation.

Public Libraries Giving Away Solar Eclipse Glasses
However, not all of the glasses found on the site are safe to use, with some vendors selling counterfeit or unsafe versions. A limited supply of free eclipse glasses are also available from the Brookings Public Library (limit two per family).

The tweet also included a photo that reads, "In the end the machines will win".

While Musk's comments seem somewhat bombastic, they do shed light on the growing influence of artificial intelligence on humanity. This echoes his remarks earlier this month when he said, "AI just something that I think anything that represents a risk to the public deserves at least insight from the government because one of the mandates of the government is the public well-being".

This is not the first time Musk has warned people about AI.

But Musk isn't alone.

Musk tweeted, "Nobody likes being regulated, but everything (cars, planes, food, drugs, etc) that's a danger to the public is regulated". AI should be too. The company promotes developing safe artificial intelligence.
