Man United preparing final £60m offer for Dier

Manchester United are ready to make a final bid for Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier.

Despite securing the services of defender Victor Lindelof and striker Romelu Lukaku, United have struggled in their pursuits of various midfielders, with Tottenham holding firm over Dier and Borussia Dortmund and Monaco holding off interest for Julian Weigl and Fabinho respectively.

United see Dier as the ideal long-term replacement for new captain Michael Carrick, having seemingly missed out on Chelsea's Nemanja Matic.

The Manchester Evening News reported last week that Dier's eagerness to move to United has intensified in recent days, which could play a part in Tottenham's decision regarding his future.

Jose Mourinho has identified Dier as one of his leading targets this summer, with the United manager keen to add a defensive midfielder to his ranks.

The England global only penned a new five-year deal at White Hart Lane last summer but he's struggled to hold down a regular first team place in his preferred central midfield role.

United thought that they could lure Dier away from north London with a £40 million bid and an offer to double his wages, but Spurs are reluctant to sell their prized asset.
