Trek-Segafredo's Bauke Mollema recorded his first stage win in the Tour on Sunday, per ITV Cycling. "I had to get back by the top of the climb". I had no option. I had to change my back wheel and it couldn't have come at a worse time.

By his own admission, Froome "just didn't have the legs" on the last of four climbs at the end of the 214.5 km slog that took almost six hours to complete and which has thrown the general classification wide open with a week still to go.

Team-mate Luke Rowe, last of the 176 riders left, said: "We gave up the yellow jersey once and I saw that Froomey was very disappointed and he won't do the same again". 'It's really fantastic, ' he said. I can't blame them. At one point, they rode over the words "Go Romain" that someone had painted on the tarmac.

Froome retains yellow jersey, Mollema wins Tour de France stage

With Bardet being a local hero, roadside fans revelled in Froome's situation and reportedly jeered the Briton as he gave chase.

"I had a problem with a broken back wheel, my team vehicle was stuck behind so I had to take a wheel from Michal Kwiatkowski", Froome said afterward. But the French have been [going] so well [with] the stage wins and Bardet fighting for the win.

"It's stuff that I never really thought of could drain from you but it does".

However, it was not just Froome's "great escape" that drove the compelling narrative.

Tour de France stage 15 will start at 6:25 AM ET and with the live television viewing in the United States by NBCSN which will begin the coverage at 8:00 AM ET.

In Mollema's wake came a peloton in tatters.

BMC's Roche finished sixth as part of a group chasing down Mollema, who jumped away from the breakaway 31km from the finish to claim a solo victory ahead of Italian Diego Ulissi and Frenchman Tony Gallopin.

Froome was impressed. "He has ridden a very good race so far".

The Colombian Nairo Quintana, already struggling in the big Pyrenean stage on Thursday, has been dropped in Peyra Taillade.

The day after losing the Tour de France lead to Fabio Aru, Chris Froome and his Team Sky showed on Friday they still have cards up their sleeves. "Really clever as well", said the yellow jersey holder. But I made it.

Evacuation Order Issued For Williams Lake
An evacuation order was given Saturday night for the city and surrounding areas including the village of 150 Mike House. Central Okanagan Emergency Operations said in a news release that as many as 10 structures had been reported damaged.

"It was a stressful moment", Froome said. "I knew that I can not give my best on the court". "I thought if I got a gap it would be hard to get back so I took the opportunity".

Truly, this outcome was only in doubt for about 20 minutes, the amount of time it took Federer to grab his first lead.

But by then AG2R's brown and blue cohorts were flagging too in the enormous heat, and Froome - ignoring some boos from what appeared to be a few fans on the climb - could, at last, latch onto the back end of the group.

"I couldn't follow everyone so I concentrated on those closest to me in the standings and less so on those further back".
