Bryson DeChambeau wins 2017 John Deere Classic

Bryson DeChambeau wins 2017 John Deere Classic

A whirlwind back nine at the John Deere Classic transformed Bryson DeChambeau from a much-discussed prospect into a PGA Tour victor.

DeChambeau, 23, who majored in physics at university, has a revolutionary philosophy about the game.

This was his breakthrough moment, much like Spieth and Harman.

DeChambeau keeps a balanced curriculum, adding to his scientific approach to the game a study of golf's history.

During the trophy presentation when Deere & Co. He grew up idolizing Payne Stewert, to the point that he played the final round of the John Deere Classic in a Hogan cap, just like Stewart, and thought about donning a pair of plus-fours.

"There's been a lot of talk, and somebody said, 'Go back and get your old clubs, '" DeChambeau said. "He's done some fantastic things for the game of golf, and I hope I can do something similar down the road".

The leaderboard fluctuated throughout the afternoon.

DeChambeau was in the practice area, trying to stay warm for a possible playoff when Rodgers' challenge ended.

There was a four-shot swing between the two on the short par-4 14th and par-5 17th. But Rodgers also had five birdies, and he saved par on the 17th after hitting his tee shot into the gallery. Rodgers surrendered a shot on both holes.

"Things weren't going my way in the initial part of the round, but I knew if I kept plugging along, the tide would eventually turn", he said.

DeChambeau, already with five birdies on the closing nine, walked to the 18th tee trailing by a stroke. After finding the fairway with his drive, he stuck a 7-iron from 194 yards to 14 feet.

"It's incredible, and I will be forever indebted to the tournament, to the tournament director", DeChambeau said. You look at that (second) shot at 18, he followed it right to the flag.

Rodgers, though, had trouble controlling his driver on the inward nine. Rodgers almost chipped in from 50 feet to force a playoff, missing the cup by a foot. He ran his second shot over the green. From approximately 50 feet, his birdie chip ran by the hole to secure DeChambeau's win.

Germany confirms 2 nationals killed in Egypt
Egypt's interior ministry said the assailant was arrested immediately on Friday and that a motive was still under investigation. The attacker was neutralized thanks to efforts of one of the Armenians. "We don't know the reasons (of the assailant)".

"It obviously puts me in a great position for the rest of the season".

The victory punctuated somewhat of a comeback for DeChambeau.

"It's very, very hard", DeChambeau said. "I knew I would be back".

"Realistically, if I could have made a couple more birdies there and could have got it to 18-under, who knows? When I made that little 6-footer at 10, it was kind of a little momentum boost".

Earlier in the season, DeChambeau missed ten PGA Tour cuts in a row from the RBC Heritage through to the US Open and, as people began doubting him, he said he was overjoyed to prove those doubters wrong.

"I was going through a process of understanding what is the most efficient way to hit the golf ball, to putt, for me, based on how I feel and how uncomfortable I am as well. That's all it was".

His win also includes an invitation to the British Open, which starts on Thursday.

He and Stewart have something else in common now: a win at the JDC.
