Steven Moffat Says He's The Most Besotted Doctor Who Fanboy

David previously played actor William Hartnell playing the First Doctor in the drama "An Adventure in Space and Time" as part of the show's 50th anniversary celebrations in 2013.

First pictures from this year's Doctor Who Christmas special have been released, and it sees a double dose of Time Lords.

It's nearly a certainty at this point that one of the main characters will die, that much we know, but outside of the events of the episode itself, it's also going to be a bit sad saying goodbye to this particular era of the show.

This is not the first time that the "Game of Thrones" actor was seen portraying the iconic role in the series.

Carmelo Anthony willing to waive no-trade clause for Rockets, Cavs
Anthony, a 10-time All-Star, averaged 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists with the New York Knicks this past season. Currently, the Knicks don't have a starting guard with the departure of last year's starter Derrick Rose to free agency .

Hartnell played the first incarnation of the Doctor from 1963 to 1966 but passed away in 1975.

But perhaps most tantalizingly we saw a glimpse of the First Doctor, originally played by William Hartnell, turn up at the very end of the series' final episode, coming face to face with Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor.

With the tenth series of Doctor Who now over, attention has turned towards the upcoming Christmas special - AKA Peter Capaldi and Steven Moffat's final episode before Chris Chibnall takes over with an as-yet unannounced new Doctor. Moffat will also leave his showrunner post after leading the series since season 5.

Now it seems he's returned to play the original Doctor once again and fans are quite rightly freaking out.

Everton hope to announce signing of Burnley defender on Monday
Keane was reportedly hopeful of a return to former club Manchester United, but they opted to sign Victor Lindelof from Benfica. Keane's signing, and the completion of the Sandro deal, takes Everton's spending to more than £90m in this transfer window.

Capaldi's successor is yet to be announced, but Kris Marshall is hotly tipped to be the next Doctor and the Time Lord is expected to fully regenerate in the Christmas episode.

There are also no details yet if Pearl Mackie's role as the Doctor's new travelling companion Bill Potts will return in "Doctor Who" season 11, since the actress just replaced Jenna Coleman's Clara Oswald after the end of season 9.

The Doctor Who series 10 finale - free of any sound issues - is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
