India just planted 66 million trees in 12 hours

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is also going to be a part of this sapling plantation. An official from the state public relation office said, "Gathering data from the 24 districts of the state is still on to reach the exact figure". A total of 24 districts of Narmada basin have been identified for the plantation. Initially, the record of planting maximum saplings was created by the Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh in July 2016.

The 12-hour plantation drive was undertaken yesterday across the state and may find a place in the Guinness World Records.

Lauding people's efforts and enthusiasm, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that he is greatly indebted to all those who were planting trees on that day.

Observers from Guinness World Records monitored the mass plantation, and are expected to confirm the new record within the coming weeks.
