Mourners remember US student held prisoner by North Korea

Ohio Senator Rob Portman spoke at the funeral, calling Warmbier "an awesome young man" and saying Warmbier should not have been detained.

A hearse carried Warmbier's casket from the school to a burial service at a local cemetery.

"The fact that Warmbier died suddenly in less than a week just after his return to the U.S.in his normal state of health indicators is a mystery to us as well", the spokesman said.

Human Rights Watch said Warmbier's death "after being abused in North Korean custody" proved the regime was willing to "brutalise and kill to maintain their hold on power".

The U.S. diplomat who traveled to North Korea to secure Warmbier's release, Joseph Yun, was at the funeral and so was Ohio Senator Rob Portman who had harsh words for the country that detained him. Blue and white ribbons (the school's colors) adorned trees around the school to honor Warmbier.

China landslide buries village leaving 10 dead and 93 missing
Heavy rains that hit the region in recent days triggered the landslide , burying the village under several tonnes of rock. Geological experts have told the state-owned Xinhua news agency that chances of survival for the missing were slim.

Although the exact cause of his death is unclear, officials at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he was treated declined to provide details while his family asked that the Hamilton County Coroner not to perform an autopsy.

Among the speakers were Warmbier's brother, Austin, his sister, Greta, and a few of his friends.

A programme for the memorial carried a quote from the character Andy Bernard on the television show 'The Office'.

Warmbier was scheduled to graduate this year from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce. The service was conducted by a rabbi and lasted about one hour.

His family had no news of him until 13 June, when Pyongyang said he had been in a coma since his trial after contracting botulism and receiving a sleeping pill. The family does not believe that account.

A United Kingdom government source said Wales gets "over and above in several areas", citing city deals and a funding floor. The Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney said the deal is primarily a matter for the Tories and DUP.

"He was genuine and authentic, and so smart".

The hermit state broke its silence after South Korea said the North bore responsibility for Warmbier's fate and President Donald Trump slammed his detention and death as "a total disgrace".

Warmbier's parents said their son had been in a coma for more than a year before he was medically evacauted from North Korea. He was arrested just before departing Pyongyang International Airport.

Sentenced to hard labor for stealing a political poster from a North Korean hotel, the 22-year-old Warmbier was medically evacuated in a coma last week after almost 18 months in captivity.

Warmbier's treatment was "appalling", U.S. Senator Rob Portman of OH told reporters outside the memorial. But the Chinese president's signature foreign policy initiative was overshadowed by the launch of a North Korean ballistic missile.
