Disability Advocates Outside Mitch McConnell's Office Arrested

Halvorson and 60 other people from ADAPT, a national disability rights organization, made up most of the protesters Thursday morning.

Laura Halvorson, 33, also a protester, said many of those who participated in the die-in resisted arrest and were then removed by Capitol Police without their wheelchairs - images that attracted significant attention on social media.

"These are literally people outside who are taking over McConnell's office who are on ventilators and wheelchairs", she said.

As Capitol police conferred about what to do, the protesters chanted, "No cuts to Medicaid; save our liberty!"
