Where things stand with Special Counsel Mueller's Russian Federation probe

"The man" the President was referring to is Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosentein, who authored a scathing critique of the fired Federal Bureau of Investigation director's handling of the Clinton email case. Comey has since said he suspects the circumstances of his firing will be scrutinized by Mueller, putting pressure on Trump's supporters to deny any illegal intent - critical to an obstruction of justice case.

Until recently the investigation was focused exclusively on Russia's meddling and possible collusion with the Trump campaign during the 2016 election.

Sekulow told CNN's Jake Tapper on Sunday that Trump's tweet was "a response to a Washington Post story that ran with five unnamed sources".

"I'm going to acknowledge we had a meeting with the special counsel Mueller, but I'm not going to get into the contents", Mr Mark Warner, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, told reporters later.

The Washington Post, citing unidentified officials, reported on Wednesday that special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating the Republican president for possible obstruction of justice.

NHC: Tropical Storm Cindy forms in Gulf
The Houston area can now expect sustained winds from 39 to 73 miles per hour, with rain totals ranging from three to six inches. Cindy will weaken into a tropical depression as it crosses East Texas , West Louisiana and South Arkansas.

This post has been updated.

In an earlier tweet on Friday, Trump said, "After 7 months of investigations & committee hearings about my 'collusion with the Russians, ' nobody has been able to show any proof".

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer says he has yet to discuss with the president whether he believes the Russian Federation government interfered in the 2016 election, as intelligence agencies have concluded.

Apparently, this major uptick in the investigation into Flynn, efforts at Russian sabotage and White House collusion and now the obstruction-of-justice element by Trump himself came days after then-FBI Director Jim Comey was sacked by Trump.

Trump has dismissed investigations into the meddling and potential collusion with his campaign associates as a "witch hunt".

Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez 'not contemplating' Cristiano Ronaldo exit
The Manchester United boss is a big admirer of the midfielder who wants playing guarantees and is now stalling on a new deal. Perez is impressed with Zidane's development over the past 18 months and is optimistic about Madrid's future.

"He's not afraid of the investigation - there is no investigation", Sekulow said, adding, "there is not an investigation of the President of the United States, period".

The probe into Kushner's business dealings is part of the special counsel's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The president has directed some of his frustration at Mr Rosenstein and Mr Mueller. Marco Rubio said Sunday that he does not expect Trump to seek to fire them.

"That signifies this president knew all too well that it was inappropriate", Schiff said.

Sekulow again said Trump is not under investigation, to which Cuomo responded "you don't know whether or not that's true. So he's being investigated for taking the action that the attorney general and deputy attorney general recommended him to take by the agency who recommended the termination".

Oil falls to 5-week low on unexpected U.S. gasoline stock build
The IEA said on Wednesday it expected growth in non-OPEC supply to be higher next year than growth in overall global demand. The average price of regular gasoline is $2.34 per gallon nationwide, according to the American Automobile Association.

Earlier in the week, Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy, a close friend of Trump's, claimed that the president was considering ordering Rosenstein to fire Mueller. But Senate judiciary committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and Sen. Angus King, an independent from ME, stressed that the probe will likely last for a long time.
