Warmbier Death Pushes Potential Trump-Kim Meeting 'Further Away'

The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that USA diplomats have already held discussions for more than a year with North Korea's top nuclear negotiator, focused on freeing American prisoners.

President Donald Trump called the death of one-time North Korean prisoner Otto Warmbier a "total disgrace" Tuesday and said the student should have been brought back to the United States sooner.

The death of a 22-year-old college student in OH on Monday has dashed any hopes of a quick detente between the US and North Korea.

"No conclusions about the cause and manner of Warmbier's death have been drawn at this time as there are additional medical records and imaging to review and people to interview", the coroner's office said, expressing its "deepest sympathies" to his "family and friends at this time of their tragic loss".

North Korea has refrained from testing a nuclear device or an intercontinental ballistic missile that could deliver a warhead to North America. "We can not know for sure that North Korea killed Mr. Warmbier", he said. Although we don't know everything about life in North Korea, this much is sure: innocent people like Otto are suffering. Trump has often cited China, North Korea's longtime ally, as a key player in USA efforts to rein in North Korea's quest to develop long-range nuclear missiles.

"He should have been brought home that same day", Trump said.

Moon pointed to the Trump administration calling the North Korea threat a top priority.

Sen.
