Amazon said to be planning price cuts at Whole Foods

"We thought Amazon was thrifty in its offer", said Charles Kantor, managing director at Neuberger Berman Investment Advisers LLC, which owns around 2.7 percent of Whole Foods shares and had pressured the company to take steps to improve its stock price. The store concept uses sensors and machine learning algorithms that track which items customers pick up as they move about the store.

Amazon revealed on Friday that it will buy Whole Foods for 42 USA dollars per share (£32.80), ramping up its stake in the global grocery market following the launch of AmazonFresh, which entered the United Kingdom market a year ago. A year and a half ago, Mackey says he had a dream that Amazon bought Whole Foods Market, and he told his wife about it when he woke up that morning.

The deal is being called a "game changer", as Amazon takes over Whole Foods, for almost $14 billion dollars.

Shares for other retailers, like Target, have also been down since Amazon first announced the deal on Friday.

"We just fell in love", Mr. Mackey said, according to the transcript. "We just had these big grins on our faces, like, 'These guys are awesome'".

As they say: If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. "I think we could have talked for 10 hours", Mr. Mackey said at the town hall.

Pakistan pays India back in same coin in Champions trophy final
The same newspaper had a photo on the first page, with citizens celebrating the win by bursting firecrackers on Sunday night. Two mainstream newspapers, Greater Kashmir and Kashmir Reader had a similar headline.

It's not yet clear what specific changes are in store at either Amazon or Whole Foods, since the two companies are saying little about their plans.

"Like an old traditional marriage, where there are all kinds of rules and chaperones, we can't consummate the marriage until we're officially hooked up", he said.

"This is not a Tinder relationship", he clarified.

Beyond the romantic metaphor, Mackey also said the companies discussed what they could do together, though he could not share those plans until the transaction closed.

"Amazon is taking over the world because that's a real big switch", says Ishmael McIntosh, from Baltimore, a former Whole Foods worker.

But the reason the takeover is such a disaster for the industry is that the financial implications are bleak even if Amazon doesn't succeed in bringing incredible game-changing innovation to the sector.

Zion Oil & Gas, Inc. (ZN) stock price reached at $2.08
In general, more thrust is placed on most recent actions by assigning higher weights to it than those assigned to past movements. ValuEngine cut Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation from a "hold" rating to a "sell" rating in a research note on Friday, June 2nd.

"I'm very serious. It's like we came outta there".

"Whole Foods customers are willing to pay a premium to have access to natural and organic offerings", Magoon said.

After all, it was Whole Foods' CEO who referred to Jana in a Texas Monthly interview earlier this month as "greedy bastards". Whole Foods is a recognized brand with a modern feel.

Amazon has "had the courage.to resist the drumbeat of short-term, quarterly earnings that have had us trapped here for a couple of years, as our same-store sales came down", he said. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
