American reverses plan to cut an inch of legroom - in three rows

The backlash was swift at a time when relations between US airlines and their passengers have sunk to a new low.

A day after the Capitol Hill scolding, word got out that American planned to sandwich more passengers into its new Boeing 737 Max aircraft by reducing the legroom from 31 inches to 29 inches in the main cabin.

PARIS/DUBLIN, June 13 Irish budget carrier Ryanair is in talks with Boeing about placing an order for its proposed new 737 MAX 10 jetliner, two people familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.

Trump not under investigation in Russia probe
Sekulow said Trump would address the issue of the tapes - whose very existence is unclear - in the "week ahead". Attorney Jay Sekulow is stressing that "the president has not been and is not under investigation".

"It is clear that today, airline customers feel increasingly frustrated by their experiences and less valued when they fly", the company said.

In an internal email reviewed by Reuters on Tuesday, the company said it had "received a lot of feedback from both customers and team members" and said it had made a decision to space all main cabin rows with at least 30 inches of pitch.

According to a person close to the development, the number of orders may be below 50 and would be part of airline's expansion plans following the positive results of previous year.

Oil prices edge up; still near 2017 lows on stubborn glut
Crude output from OPEC nations rose by 290,000 bpd in May to a 2017 high of 32.08 million barrels per day, according to the EIA . In addition to that, the production from OPEC, in the month of May rose by 336,000 barrels per day, thanks to Libya and Nigeria.

The carrier said that passengers aren't likely to notice the loss of an inch of space because the seats on the 737 Max are thinner than existing seats and make more efficient use of space.

"We've reassessed what's appropriate for the markets served by our new 737 MAX and have found a way to deliver a minimum of 30 inches of pitch for all Main Cabin rows". After reviewing customer feedback, the carrier is reversing this plan, adding at least 30-inches of pitch on the latest generation 737 aircraft.

American Airlines has announced it will not go through with a plan that would reduce legroom to 29 inches from 31.

Meanwhile, Chancellor Philip Hammond has been urged to publish the costs of any deals made with the DUP to prop up a Tory government.

At the congressional hearing in May, airline executives faced scathing criticism for their customer service, after the furor surrounding a passenger being dragged from a full United Airlines plane to make room for airline employees.
