Iran's Revolutionary Guard strikes Syria for Tehran attacks

In a statement late on Sunday, the IRGC public relations office reminded earlier pledge that the IRGC would retaliate for innocent bloodshed in June 7 terrorist attacks in Tehran, and said, "To that end the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps... a while ago has conducted missile attacks on Takfiri terrorists' command centers, gatherings, logistic sites and factories of suicide vehicle bombs in Deir ez-Zor region, east of Syria".

"In case if attacks on Iran continue, the flame of our justifiable anger will burn terrorists to ashes", the Revolutionary Guards said in a statement.

The Guard said, in a statement published on its Sepahnews website, that the missiles were "in retaliation" for the June 7 attacks on Tehran claimed by IS.

It said the attack targeted "a command base.... of the terrorists in Deir Ezzor", Syria's oil-rich eastern province.

The Daesh Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the assaults.

The Guard did not provide many specifics, but said the surface-to-surface medium range missiles fired from Iran targeted Deir el-Zour, Syria.

Senior Iranian officials, however, have pointed a finger at Saudi Arabia, Iran's Sunni regional rival.
