Ben Carson: Give Mueller a chance on Russian Federation probe

The president's anger appears to be directed at Acting Attorney General Rod Rosenstein who wrote a letter recommending Comey's termination.

Carson's comments come as speculation mounts that Trump could attempt to fire Mueller, along with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who appointed Mueller to lead the Russian Federation investigation last month.

Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as a special prosecutor in an investigation of alleged collusion between Trump associates and Russian Federation in the 2016 election.

"I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director!" Trump later asserted that he had already made the decision himself to fire Comey before Rosenstein's memo.

The tweets on June 16, 2017 are the latest in a week of angry social media responses by the President over a report by The Washington Post that Mr. Mueller was looking into whether Mr. Trump obstructed justice.

President Trump Under Investigation By Mueller For Possible Obstruction Of Justice
In an unusual move, Mr Rosenstein issued a statement on Thursday urging caution about reports based on "unnamed sources". In an Interview with Lester Holt on NBC, Trump said he was thinking about Russian Federation when he fired Comey .

The obstruction of justice investigation into Mr Trump began days after Mr Comey was sacked on May 9, according to people familiar with the matter, the Washington Post said.

Rosenstein wrote a three-page memo on May 9 criticizing Comey for his handling of the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's use of a private server while in office.

He had likened the appointment of the special counsel with the "single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history".

Grassley's office said the letter was in response to a letter from Feinstein requesting that the committee seek details from senior Federal Bureau of Investigation leaders about Comey's interactions with Trump before he was sacked.

The letter said the investigation would also probe Comey's testimony that Loretta Lynch, attorney general under former U.S. president Barack Obama, had directed him to describe an FBI probe into former USA secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton's e-mail practices as merely a "matter" and to avoid calling it an investigation.

The morning after the Post story went up, Trump released a statement via Twitter that referenced the existence of an obstruction investigation, but didn't provide any details.

The White House has said the president "has never asked Mr Comey or anyone else to end any investigation, including any investigation involving General Flynn".

Trump criticized an unnamed "man who told me to fire ..."

The website reported that Trump will sometimes interrupt conversations with associates to say, "I'm not under investigation". Since then, Mueller, who served as FBI director before Comey, took over the investigation.

Trump hadn't publicly admitted he was personally under investigation until now.

Not much new in Trump's Cuba policy
Cheered by Cuba hardliners in both parties, Mr Trump's new policy is broadly opposed by USA businesses eager to invest in Cuba. As a result, the changes - though far-reaching - appear to be less sweeping than many U.S.pro-engagement advocates had feared.

On Friday, the President made extraordinary claims against Clinton and her family for their own alleged dealings with Russian Federation, claiming smashed a phone with a hammer and "bleached" emails to cover their tracks.
