Referees explain the mix-up on the Draymond Green technical foul

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green (23) gestures to fans during the second half against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 4 of basketball's NBA Finals in Cleveland, Friday, June 9, 2017.

Draymond Green was suspended for Game 5, Steph Curry wasn't healthy throughout the playoffs, and the team was mentally and physically worn out after chasing the regular-season record. If Green hadn't been suspended for Game 5 previous year, the Warriors might be going for a three-peat right now. He wasn't having any of that as he took his time speaking and meeting with everyone after the game.

Draymond Green was allowed to stay in Game 4 of the NBA Finals after officials said the first of two technical fouls charged to him had actually been called on coach Steve Kerr. He remained in the game due to the mix up on the foul situation and put together a productive night with a double-double recording 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Cavaliers ended up winning 137-116.

Golden State would rather forget that monumental collapse past year, when Green's absence for Game 5 because of flagrant foul point accumulation helped swing the series.

What should I say today?

Midway through the 3rd quarter, Draymond Green was called for a technical foul after disagreeing with a personal-foul call and expressing his disapproval by waving his arm at an official.

No announcement was ever made correcting the error, not that Green was listening for one. "So I knew I didn't have a technical foul, but still trying to figure out why did I get the second one".

"Like I said, I think because of experience".

So even though Friday was a bad night for the Warriors, at least they head home with good news.

History as Ostapenko soars into Paris final
Bacsinszky needed strapping added to her right thigh at 4-3 in the first set but it did not seem to affect her movement. Among them is Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia, now the world's No. 47, whom Pierce said is "definitely someone to watch".

"We're in a great spot and now we have to capitalize", Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.

"Some things just never change, right?"

James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love know they aren't out of this yet - after all, they came back from a daunting deficit a year ago on the way to the city's first major team sports title in 52 years.

"No, I feel this is the game we've got to get", he said, "or it's over".

"Every game is do-or-die and we understand that", Kyrie Irving said.

The troubling part is that they haven't been able to find answers to Golden State's explosive offense.
