NASA Reveals the Details of Its Historic Mission To

By sending the Parker Solar Probe into the corona of the sun, NASA is hoping to answer such questions such as: Why is the corona, the top layer of the sun's gaseous atmosphere (visible only during a solar eclipse), hotter than its surface? Since this isn't a journey that a human can take, NASA will send a 10-foot high probe on the historic mission, since this will mark the first time humanity has reached the giant star. To avoid following the same fate of Icarus, the spacecraft will be covered by a almost 5-inch thick coat of carbon-composite solar shields. With this mission, NASA aims to obtain new insights into solar winds and space weather by collecting more precise data.

The Solar Probe Plus will be protected from the Sun's brutal heat and radiation by a special carbon-composite heat shield that is 11.43cm (4.5in) thick.

Scientists announced the mission, named the Parker Solar Probe, at the University of Chicago in IL. By year's end, it will move to Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, where the probe will be put through its paces and make sure it can withstand the type of heat it will encounter in the sun's corona.

Trump flatly denies Comey accusations, willing to respond under oath
On Thursday, former FBI Director James Comey testified for three hours publicly before the Senate Intelligence Committee . During the news conference on Friday, ABC News' Jonathan Karl asked Trump to clarify his response to Comey's testimony .

The mission will launch during a 20-day window that opens on July 31, 2018, and is part of NASA's "Living With a Star" program, which is created to study the sun and its interactions with Earth and the broader solar system. Parker Solar Probe is on track for launch during a 20-day window that opens July 31, 2018. Parker also theorized that the sun's corona was several hundred times hotter than the surface of the sun itself.

The Ulysses probe - a joint operation between NASA and the European Space Agency - was the last probe to orbit the sun. Its spacecraft, in humanity's first visit to a star, will get the closest we ever got to the sun.

Originally known as Solar Probe Plus, NASA announced Wednesday that it had renamed the mission in honor of Eugene Parker, a professor emeritus at the University of Chicago.

He called this cascade of energy the solar wind, and he described an entire complex system of plasmas, magnetic fields and energetic particles that make up this phenomenon.

James Comey is a leaker
When pressed on the matter, Trump said: "Well, I'll tell you about that maybe sometime in the very near future". Asked specifically if anyone ever asked him to stop the Russian Federation probe , Comey replied: "No".
