Apple battle rivals with new 'HomePod' to reinvent home audio

At Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference Monday, Apple unveiled the HomePod, its latest home device. The announcement was the most notable from the event, which packed in a lot of hardware and software updates.

The headline announcement was Apple's new HomePod, a smart speaker which will be competing with the Amazon Echo and Google Home.

Just like its competitors, the HomePod will be able to answer basic questions such as what the weather will be like or how bad traffic is.

Analysts said Apple is playing to its strength in the music industry by focusing on sound quality and its catalog of songs available on HomePod.

I will form new government, says Theresa May
Under EU law, once departure has been announced , it must be completed within two years, which is to say by March, 2019. The DUP said earlier on Friday it would not comment on reports that it had agreed to back May's ruling Conservatives .

The speaker features Apple's Siri voice assistant which can play songs for users on requests such as "Hey Siri, play more songs like this?", "Play something new" or even a specific request such as "What was the top song on May 5th 2016?" In that way, Apple is sticking to its normal playbook and focusing on consumers willing to shell out more cash - a strategy that can mean fewer sales but generally leads to greater profits.

Apple's Kevin Lynch speaks about the Apple Watch. There is no point having all these connected devices if they can not work with one another. Pulling music from the Apple library, the speaker was presented as being able to recognize its placement and direct rich audio sound into the room. However, tensions between the technology rivals delayed the deal for more than two years, after Amazon stopped selling Apple TVs on its retail site.

The voice-activated-speaker market is projected to reach $2.1 billion by 2020, according to an October report from the analysis firm Gartner.

Apple also introduced new elements for its upcoming iOS 11 mobile software that include the ability for person to person payments via Apple Pay, a male voice option for Siri, and the equivalent of an out-of-office message for texts while driving.

Good news for Apple TV users who want to watch shows like The Man in the High Castle: Amazon Prime shows will soon be available via Apple's streaming platform, Deadline reports.

Another expected update came with the company's MacBook, Mac and iPad Pro lines.

But the best new addition for people using the iPad in a professional setting may be the operating system's new feature that allows users to mark up virtually documents that they can access on their iPads using the Apple Pencil. The news that Apple is assisting United Kingdom law enforcement is not surprising but comes at a pivotal time.

Bloomberg reported last week that the company had begun to manufacture the device. Still, it was impressive to see the new MacBooks running multiple 4K HDR tracks in Final Cut Pro, without breaking a sweat. It's also what Microsoft is targeting with the Surface Pro; a new model comes out on June 15. The HomePod won't be out until December (in the US, UK and AU), but its simple and sleek design will already have Apple aficionados clamoring to get their hands on one.

New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles
When it's mid-June and your Opening Day starting pitcher has an ERA that's closer to 6 than it is to 5, you've got some problems. Tillman's season began when he pitched five scoreless innings and allowed three hits to the Chicago White Sox on May 7.

The HomePod also will go on sale in December.
