Trump makes it official: US out of Paris climate pact

On Thursday, President Donald Trump announced that the US would withdraw from the Paris global climate agreement, a controversial move that even has his cabinet split.

Referring to Trump's idea of redrawing the 2015 accord, he said, in the French version, "we will not in any way renegotiate an agreement that is less ambitious" than the present one.

The focus must remain on implementation of the Paris Agreement, with the remaining Parties continuing to show commitment and ambition to increase their efforts to address climate change, The Elders said.

In a statement after Trump's announcement, Sen. "The Paris agreement is a good deal for Canada and it's a good deal for the world", a grim-faced McKenna told reporters.

The backlash from leaders of large USA corporations contrasts with Trump's statements saying the agreement's restrictions would hurt American jobs and businesses. We power almost all of our operations with renewable energy, which we believe is an example of something that's good for our planet and makes good business sense as well.

"I think this Paris accord that President Obama signed is a disaster for American jobs", Paul added.

In a joint statement, Governor Andrew Cumo, Governor Edmund Brown Jr., and Governor Jay Inslee announced the formation of the United States Climate Alliance. He said the climate accord should be a treaty and should have been considered in the Senate during President Barack Obama's tenure.

Trump Waives Law Requiring US Move Its Embassy to Jerusalem
Moving the embassy would likely indicate a change in U.S. policy toward recognizing Israel's claim to a united Jerusalem . After getting into the Oval Office, Trump said he'd study the issue. "We're looking at it very, very strongly".

Lawmakers, world leaders, former presidential candidates and even former President Obama had a lot to say about the decision.

Trump today announced his intention to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate change agreement, but said he would start negotiations to strike an improved deal on better terms for America. I am an American. "They went 'Wow.' They were so happy, for the simple reason that it put our country, the United States of America, which we all love, at a very, very big economic disadvantage".

Under the terms of the agreement, the earliest a nation can formally withdraw is November, 2020 - the same month Trump will run for re-election. "With the president pulling out of the Paris climate agreement, L.A. will lead by committing to the goals of the accord - and will work closely with cities across America and the world to do the same".

Trump painted the original deal as "unfair" to American workers and taxpayers, suggesting that other countries had more favorable agreements.
