Sanders Unleashes on Mulvaney During Budget Hearing

This is a budget created to reduce dependence on the government, as Budget Director Mick Mulvaney described the spending plans Tuesday.

"It's not unreasonable to ask if there are folks on Snap who should not be, because we should have seen that number go down", Mr Mulvaney said.

Mulvaney, a tea party favorite who until February represented SC in the House of Representatives, got an earful not only from Democrats but also fellow Republicans over the size of the reductions President Donald Trump proposed in his $4.1 trillion 2018 budget.

Panel Democrats charged that Trump's cuts would rip apart the social safety net.

The president's budget director, Mick Mulvaney, said Monday, "The ugly truth is this: You can never balance the budget at 1.9 percent growth".

Both the Defense Ministry and the Blue House said they couldn't immediately confirm the report. The THAAD system was installed in the southeastern town of Seongju.

The Trump budget could compound those restrictions by reducing the rate of growth in federal Medicaid funding even more.

Such cuts are being contemplated, of course, at a time when Trump is also promising huge reductions in taxes, mostly for upper-income individuals and corporations.

Trump's balanced-budget goal depends not only on the growth projections but also a variety of accounting gimmicks, including an nearly $600 billion peace dividend from winding down overseas military operations and "double counting" $2.1 trillion in revenue from economic growth — using it to both pay for tax cuts and bring down the deficit.

President Trump's budget chief defended the administration's first budget proposal on Wednesday, underscoring the importance of economic growth and putting "taxpayers first".

Trump's budget has come under fire from both sides of the aisle for its deep spending cuts to almost all federal programs and agencies, aside from an increase in funding for defense, homeland security, veterans affairs, and child care credits.

But Kvitova's recovery was faster than expected and she said last month that she was signing up for the French Open . It was the 10th time Vinci lost in the first round in her 13 career appearances at Roland Garros.

-Young Workers: By not addressing Social Security or Medicare benefits for retirees, Trump's budget increases the likelihood that young workers will eventually face either significant benefit cuts or big tax increases. "If that's where you are, don't accept it - 3 percent growth is not something we should talk about, but something that should drive everything". Because right now, my unborn grandchildren are paying for it, and I think that is morally bankrupt.

Medicaid, the government insurance program for the poor and many disabled Americans, would be cut by more than $600 billion over 10 years by capping payments to states and giving governors more flexibility to manage their rosters of Medicaid recipients.

-New parents: The budget plan includes a new paid-leave program for the parents of newborn children. Yet Trump promised during the campaign not to touch these middle-class favorites, and his budget apparently honors that pledge - with the possible exception of Social Security's disability program, which primarily helps low-income beneficiaries. Farm state lawmakers are already pushing back on proposals to curb agriculture assistance, for instance, and key Republicans are not interested in adding another round of cuts to Medicaid on top of those contained in the ongoing "Obamacare" repeal and replace effort.

"This budget relies on absurd economic projections and pretend revenues that no credible economist would validate", Jayapal said.

Mulvaney said that part of the savings, listed in the budget as $1.4 trillion over 10 years, would come from a "two-penny plan" which will cut non-defense discretionary spending by 2 percent each year over the next decade. "It provides no real information on "tax reform" other than to claim it is revenue neutral".
