Opponents of Texas immigration disrupt legislative session

According to the Texas Tribune, the House took a 20-minute break on Monday after protesters of Texas's Senate Bill 4, the sanctuary city ban that required local governments to cooperate with federal immigration authorities, chanted and cheered against the controversial bill from the gallery. Earlier this month Gov. Greg Abbott signed the law, which also allows "police to inquire about the immigration status of anyone they detain, a situation that can range from arrest for a crime to being stopped for a traffic violation", according to The Associated Press.

"I called ICE on several illegal immigrants who held signs in the gallery which said, 'I am illegal and here to stay, '" state Rep. Matt Rinaldi said in a statement released via Twitter shortly after the incident Monday.

"He came up to us and said, 'I'm glad I just called ICE to have all these people deported, '" Rep. Blanco told the Tribune.

Rinaldi, of Irving in suburban Dallas, and Blanco then began shouting at each other.

Rep. Justin Rodriguez, a San Antonio Democrat, was one of the lawmakers involved in the scuffle.

Victor Moses gets married after FA Cup dismissal
It was a special moment for Wenger personally, with the beleaguered manager claiming a seventh FA Cup winners' medal. As reported by Arsenal's official website , Mertesacker said: "It was a tough season for myself".

Later in the afternoon, Rinaldi took to Facebook to say he had been threatened by Rep. Poncho Nevarez (D) for making the call, and that Rep. Ramon Romero (D) physically assaulted him.

Today, Representative Poncho Nevarez threatened my life on the House floor after I called ICE on several illegal immigrants who held signs in the gallery which said "I am illegal and here to stay".

A Republican senator said he would shoot his Democrat colleague "in self-defense" after alleging he had been threatened following an immigration protest on the floor of the Texas House.

After an hour, both sides calmed down and the House eventually adjourned to end the final day of the 85th legislative session.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has been among those asking Abbott to call a special session to address contentious issues such as a "bathroom bill" to regulate where transgendered Texans may use the restroom, and property tax reform. Texas Democrats reacted to the law's passage with alarm; one lawmaker went on a hunger strike. The bill was viewed as a crackdown on Austin and other "sanctuary cities", a term that has no legal meaning but describes parts of the country where police are not tasked with helping enforce federal immigration law.

Wenger: FA Cup win my presentation for new deal
Chelsea lost 2-1 to Arsenal in the Wembley showpiece to miss out on the chance to finish the season with a domestic double. The referee believed Moses dived in the 68th minute inside the Arsenal box to win a penalty for his team.

He didn't say whether he'll drag lawmakers back to work to tackle another issue he's endorsed, a North Carolina-style "bathroom bill" targeting transgender people.

When Abbott was asked if he was feeling any pressure from Patrick on a special session, he said "None".

Monday is the last day of the regular session.

On Sunday, the House and Senate descended into finger-pointing over inaction on critical legislation needed to keep some state agencies from shuttering.

Except for committee work that will continue during the "interim" between legislative sessions, lawmakers won't reconvene until January 2019. "During that time Poncho told me that he would 'get me on the way to my auto.' He later approached me and reiterated that 'I had to leave at some point, and he would get me'". If Abbott calls a special session as expected, though, it will be a lot sooner.
