US stonewalls on climate change

President Donald Trump says he'll make a final decision on whether the US will stay in the Paris climate agreement next week.

However, the other G7 leaders pledged to "reaffirm their strong commitment to swiftly implement the Paris Agreement".

The G-7 summit marked the last stop of Trump's first overseas trip as president, a grueling nine-day tour that included high-level discussions in the Middle East and with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, as well as a meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican. The U.S. inked a $110 billion arms sale to Saudi Arabia and unveiled numerous business commitments in the region, though the White House never provided specific details about the scope of the agreements.

"We are having to talk about things settled years ago", said a top level member of one G7 delegation, frustrated by the USA position. "And we paved the way for a new era of cooperation among the nations of the world to defeat the common enemy of terrorism".

"I think we hit a home run no matter where we are", Trump said, before boarding his plane back to Washington. To address members' dissapointment, US national security adviser H.R. McMaster said Saturday that "of course" the president supports Article 5, in which members regard "an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America" as "an attack against them all".

The decision whether the leave the Paris deal accord has been among the most fractious of the Trump administration.

But he insisted that the other countries understood Trump's refusal to decide now, even if they did not support that position. Trump has said he would give world leaders the chance to make their case for the accord. On Friday, the Washington Post reported that Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner spoke with Russia's ambassador to the US about setting up secret communications with Moscow.

"We're not going to comment on Jared", an exasperated Cohn said.

President Donald Trump reacts after a family photo at the G7 Summit expanded session in Taormina, Sicily , Italy, May 27, 2017. He has rolled back a number of Obama-era climate change measures, which will hamper USA efforts to fulfill its Paris pledges.

US President Donald Trump's first trip overseas was supposed to be about building bridges and clarifying his administration's intentions to friends and foes alike.

"He did not make a decision not to say it". Macron was more diplomatic, claiming to see signs of progress and describing Trump as "pragmatic and ready to work". 'The United States needs to be out front on this pact'. Only five of NATO's 28 members meet the target: Britain, Estonia, debt-laden Greece, Poland and the United States, which spends more on defence than all the other allies combined.

The Paris agreement is broader than any previous climate deal.

"I will tell you, a big difference over the a year ago", Trump said.

US Confirms: North Korea launched a short-range ballistic missile
North Korea, which has conducted dozens of missile tests and tested two nuclear bombs since the start of 2016 in defiance of U.N. Japan's National Security Council chief Shotaro Yachi will meet Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on Monday afternoon.

The Washington Post, The New York Times, Reuters, and other media outlets reported that Trump is considering creating a so-called "war room" to deal with the growing number of questions about his presidential campaign and Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election.

Trump boarded Air Force One without having held a single news conference on the trip - a break in presidential precedent that allowed him to avoid facing tough questions about his foreign policy or the raging controversies involving the investigations into his campaign's possible ties to Russian Federation.

"I was sitting in on some of the discussions in Brussels, by the way, where climate change came up, and the president was open, he was curious about why others were in the position they were in - his counterparts in other nations", he said.

Trump was warmly welcomed in the Middle East, but in Europe he's faced a far cooler reception. Another, calling itself "Women Against Trump", planned to protest what marchers said was the president's "sexism". If the United States pull out, this will amplify the signalling effect that Trump has already had in boosting fossil fuels through rhetoric and removing regulations.
