Donald Trump attacks media for 'fake news' following Jared Kushner reports

Also last week, multiple reports said Trump's son-in-law Kushner was under new "scrutiny" in the FBI investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Jacobs explained the core issue of Kushner's reported contact with Russian officials.

President Donald Trump on Sunday continued his war on the "fake news" media by accusing reporters broadly of making up sources. "#FakeNews is the enemy!" he tweeted at 8:45 a.m. Sunday.

Kushner spoke with Ambassador Sergey Kislyak about facilitating sensitive discussions to explore the incoming administration's options with Russian Federation as it developed its Syria policy, a person familiar with the discussions told The Associated Press.

Mr Kushner went so far as to suggest using Russian diplomatic facilities in the United States to protect such a channel from being monitored, the Post said, quoting U.S. officials briefed on intelligence reports. Another story that broke while Mr. Trump was gone was one that said three leakers inside the White House had been identified, and that the President would be getting rid of them once he returned to the U.S. No names were revealed, but it has resulted in plenty of rumors across the political spectrum, especially more from conservative figures on social media, who publicly pointed the finger at aides whom they argued are not reliably supportive of the President.

Kushner, who is married to Trump's daughter Ivanka, is now a senior White House adviser with wide-ranging foreign policy and domestic duties.

"Jared is doing a great job for the country", Trump said.

Trump had delayed until after the G7 meeting in making a decision about whether the US should withdraw from the landmark Paris climate accord.

National Security Advisor HR McMaster refused to talk about the allegations.

He added: "I would not be concerned about it".

The White House crisis management plan, Jared Kushner's standing with the boss and new congressional wrinkles in the Russian Federation investigation - they're all a part of our Inside Politics forecast.

He said he leaned toward "naivete" as an explanation, though he did not find it comforting.

And while Mr Trump has reportedly been told by lawyers to limit his Twitter posts to prevent them being used as evidence in any potential legal case, the President could not resist warning his more than 30-million followers against believing the "fake news" about his administration.

Texas House OKs budget but 'bathroom bill' still in limbo
Texas' House let the issue languish for months, then on Sunday approved a more modest version applying only to schools. Patrick said the issue could be handled in two or three days in a special session.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, in an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press", said he would not confirm the stories about Kushner's conversations, but added that he was "very concerned" about reports of the Trump administration approaching Russian Federation "from a theoretical standpoint".

Graham called the report "stunning" and said Comey "needs to be held accountable".

He meant that the leader of Britain had expressed her anger over crime-scene photos from last week's terrorist attack, which were leaked to the New York Times.

Kushner boasts an enormous portfolio of domestic and global responsibilities, underscoring his importance as Trump s chief adviser despite having no experience in politics before the 2016 White House race.

During the Monica Lewinsky investigation, the Clinton White House brought on a dedicated group of lawyers and a created a separate media operation to handle investigation-related inquiries so they didn't completely subsume the president's agenda.

Mr Trump's comments came after senior administration officials had moved to play down the allegations, without addressing whether or not they were true.

The search continues for an Federal Bureau of Investigation director to replace Comey.
