United States embassy move would 'end peace process': PLO official

United States embassy move would 'end peace process': PLO official

The Israeli love affair with President Donald Trump has soured as promises have gone unfulfilled.

According to Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth, Israeli Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked derided the map, which includes neither the West Bank, Jerusalem nor the Golan Heights, saying: "I hope this is just ignorance and not policy".

Palestinian officials also said they were working with the US on logistics, such as Trump's crossing from Jerusalem to Bethlehem and meeting with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. "I'm looking at two-state and one-state, and I like the one that both parties like", Trump said at a White House news conference with Netanyahu in February. Meanwhile, 10,000 police officers will be deployed to oversee security during Trump's visit to the Holy City. The area, which makes up 60 percent of the West Bank and is the site of Israel's settlements, has largely been off limits to Palestinian development. The official wasn't authorized to comment by name and spoke on condition of anonymity. Trump's White House has spoken of reviving the idea of a regional peace process, pulling in other Arab countries.

But this shouldn't lead us to conclude that the US-Israel relationship will end up as one more casualty of Trump's unprecedented presidency.

Fink's imagined solution: take Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli for the visit.

The Trump administration is also poised to disappoint some in Israel and among his own supporters in the United States by reneging on a campaign pledge to quickly move the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to the capital, Jerusalem.

Anifah: Talks on South China Sea heading in positive direction
The move comes as the Philippines' new president, Rodrigo Duterte, pivots away from the United States and toward China . De Venecia said joint exploration would promote peace and economic development in the region.

Palestinians, who viewed Trump's victory with some trepidation, are said to have been pleasantly surprised by Trump's openness during a recent meeting with Abbas in Washington.

Reporting that the hotel and its surrounding area "would become a virtual fortress", the Times of Israel said that all telephones and TVs in the suite would be replaced by USA security teams with devices specially flown in from the States.

Last week, administration officials confirmed to CNN that the embassy would stay where it is - at least for now - as Trump pursued a peace deal between Israelis and Palestinians. Afterwards he will head to the West Bank city of Bethlehem where he is slated to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

In office, Trump has backed away from two decades of US commitment to a sovereign Palestinian state and given Israel wider latitude to build homes in the Jewish settlements in the West Bank free of American rebuke. It is located in east Jerusalem, which Israel occupied in 1967 and later annexed in a move never recognised by the worldwide community.

On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump will become the sixth U.S. president to visit Israel, America's most loyal ally in the Middle East.

Are some Israeli politicians who call for American and world wide recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, being duplicitous?

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is the biggest movie star in the world right now , so it's obvious he's looking for new challenges. For this honour, Johnson received a special commemorative robe from Baldwin, another member of the shows "Five-Timers club".

"I think inserting a second Palestinian state beyond that one in Gaza here in the heart of Israel would be a profound mistake". The last round of USA -led negotiations broke down in 2014, and no serious talks on the leadership level have taken place since 2008.

Can he bring the two sides together?

Mr Bennett said: "Look it's no secret that I differ on this peace with the Prime Minister".

"The issue over many years has not been the mediator in the middle - it's the guys sitting on the other sides of the mediators", said Miller, now a vice president at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Trump is now planning to visit without being accompanied by any Israeli officials, though there has been speculation over whether that could change. At the time, the hotel housed the British administrative headquarters for Palestine. The Trump administration does not even recognize Jerusalem, and the Western Wall within it (which is part of the holiest site in Judaism), as part of the Jewish state.

While Netanyahu in the past has expressed support for the establishment of a Palestinian state, he has been vague about this goal since Trump took office.
