Man subdued after incident on American Airlines flight to Honolulu

Passenger Grant Arakelian said, "He was very quiet, moving very sluggish".

Officials identified the passenger as Anil Uskanil of Turkish ethinicity.

"Crazy! Someone tried to break into the cockpit on my flight from LA to Honolulu. Passengers said the man had a blanket or towel on his head, and didn't say anything as he pushed forward", HNN staff reported.

Basden returned it to the man when he came out. "You're not gonna open that cockpit door", Deeds told ABC7 News.

The Basdens say everything was fine until midway through the flight.

The flight attendant ran down the aisle with her serving cart and blocked the doorway separating first class from the rest of the plane. The FBI says it is interviewing him.

Lorenzen and his wife Penny Lorenzen, of Orange County, California, were sitting in first class and saw a "really serious look" on the flight attendant's face.

Passenger Allison Forberger, an eyewitness who lives in Kapolei, Hawaii, was seated right behind first class. The fear was that he was trying to get into the cockpit.

The man was subdued by the crew member and passengers, who duct-taped him to a seat in the back of the plane.

Flight attendants, an off-duty Los Angeles police officer and other passengers were able to stop the man and secure him in a seat. "Once they took him to the back we never heard anything else about it".

Initially, several passengers subdued the suspect during the flight, the report added.

A person who caused a disturbance on a flight between Los Angeles and Honolulu has been detained.

No other information about the disturbance was immediately available.

"At this time, there are no other reports of disruptions to flights", the department tweeted.
