Celtics' Thomas sits out 2nd half with right hip strain

Celtics' Thomas sits out 2nd half with right hip strain

LeBron James is playing out of his mind - he's now scored at least 30 points in eight straight playoff games - but he's getting plenty of help from his teammates, too.

But after watching the beatdown administered by Cleveland on Friday night, I am more convinced than ever that if the Celtics keep the number one pick there's only one choice that makes sense.

"We don't take this for granted at all, I'm going to continue to say it, because we understand how valuable it is to win on the road or win any games in the Playoffs", said Irving. When he went back to the locker room our training staff and doctors got with him. We played probably better than the score indicated in [Game 1], but we obviously played one of our worst games you could play [in Game 2].

The Celtics played so poorly that coach Brad Stevens was called for a technical foul by official Scott Foster with 10:37 left in the second quarter. Thomas didn't play in the second half due to what the team said was a hip injury.

Trapping and blitzing a 5-9 playmaker is a hell of a lot easier than someone who is six or seven inches taller and has the wingspan of a power forward; a player like Fultz. "For him to have to sit was pretty hard".

"Today I thought he looked much different in the first half", Stevens said.

"I am a guy that lives in the moment".

"I think ultimately they were terrific, we were poor".

It was the biggest playoff win for the Cavaliers and the Celtics' worst home playoff loss.

After Wednesday's Game 1 loss, the Celtics pledged to start faster and be more competitive.

"It was obviously just embarrassing", said Celtics guard Avery Bradley.

Thomas finished with just a pair of free throws, missing all six shots from the field; he also had six assists.

The Times cites the White House's official written account of the Oval Office meeting. "He was insane , a real nut job", Trump said, according to the New York Times .

Barring a shocking conference finals comeback by the Celtics or San Antonio Spurs, it looks like the Cavs and Golden State Warriors will meet for a record third straight NBA Finals.

But against the Celtics, you would think they had a team of Kawhi Leonards or something the way they absolutely stone-walled Boston at every turn.

James had 22 points in the first half, when he also collected six assists and blocked three shots, including a chase-down rejection of Avery Bradley that was reminiscent of the one against Andre Iguodala in Game 7 of the National Basketball Association final.

That one was critical to clinching Cleveland's first championship since the Browns won the National Football League title in 1964.

Love's fourth triple of the first half gave the Cavaliers a 40-point lead, 66-26, with 2:59 to play in the second quarter.

NOTES: The Celtics made one lineup change, starting G/F Gerald Green in place of F Amir Johnson. But he did assist on six of his team's 11 baskets in the half.

Eastern Conference Finals: Celtics vs. Cavs Game 2 Preview And Prediction
While it was an all-around ugly first-half performance for Boston, Thomas particularly struggled. They started Gerald Green and looked like they may have figured out to stay with Cleveland.

All of the the things that went right for the Celtics in the first two rounds that weren't sustainable went wrong. There was a large contingent of New England Patriots sitting courtside, including tight end Rob Gronkowski, backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and owner Robert Kraft.
