Approval of President Trump drops to lowest since inauguration

U.S. President Donald Trump stops to give a thumbs up as he departs the White House to embark on a trip to the Middle East and Europe, in Washington, U.S., May 19, 2017.

According to Reuters, 23% of Republicans polled said they do not approve of Trump's work so far as president of the United States, up from 16% in the same poll conducted just last week. Another 6-percent had mixed feelings.

Since then, a number of controversial revelations has poured out of the White House, including the news that Trump may have divulged highly classified intelligence to visiting Russian officials and that he had allegedly asked Comey in February to shut down the FBI's investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn. That was followed by reports that former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, whom Trump recently fired, had written memos expressing concerns that the president had pressured him to stop investigating Mr Trump campaign ties to Russian Federation.

Comey is known to produce memos documenting especially sensitive or unsettling encounters, such as after the February meeting. The Senate and House intelligence committees are also probing possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

Later in the week, the Justice Ministry announced it appointed former FBI Director Robert Muller as head of an independent investigation into the contacts of Donald Trump's campaign with Russian Federation.

Mr Trump has denied colluding with the Russians and called ongoing efforts to investigate him a "witch hunt".

Political observers have said it's been a very bad week for President Donald Trump, and that notion is underscored by a new Morning Consult/POLITICO survey that shows his support continues to decline as many voters expressed concern about his fitness for office.

Gambhir's men will now face the "real test" as they take on Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier on Friday. Another major boost that we keep talking about is the way KKR speedsters have flourished this season .

The analysts say Trump still remains popular and can manage the situation.

50% said Trump wasn't "able to serve as Commander-in-Chief", and about the same percentage (52%) said they were not confident he could keep the country safe from terrorism.

While it is the polls lowest recorded approval since Trump took office on January 20, other polls have recorded lower numbers in the past.

The poll included 1,971 adults, including 721 registered Republicans and 795 registered Democrats. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points for the entire group and 4 points for the Democrats and Republicans.
