A 23-year-old woman almost chopped off the genitals of a godman, who had allegedly been repeatedly raping her over the past several years with the connivance of her mother. Hariswamy is said to be an inmate of the Panmana Ashram in Kollam, a religious retreat and a popular tourist destination. He first raped her when she was 16 years old.

According to the girl, the Swami was a frequent visitor to her home and used to conduct religious ceremonies.
