Turmoil grows over intel Trump leaked to Russian Federation

Turmoil grows over intel Trump leaked to Russian Federation

The danger is if Trump's comments to the Russian parties revealed something about the sources and methods used in the intelligence gathering around ISIS's laptop-bomb efforts.

It was, in the words of one senior White House official, the worst day of Trump's presidency.

Veteran Republican Senator John McCain warned that reports Trump divulged to Russian Federation information provided by a U.S. ally "sends a troubling signal to America's allies and partners around the world and may impair their willingness to share intelligence with us in the future". One senior Trump administration official, and campaign veteran, tells the Daily Beast, "I don't see how Trump isn't completely fucked".

He said the U.S. had been Israel's closest ally and this alliance "is deep, significant and unprecedented in volume".

U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, a Democrat, is the only member of Kentucky's congressional delegation besides McConnell that has commented on the issue.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin said early Wednesday that President Trump did not share secrets with Russian officials last week and is willing to give Congress transcripts to prove it. He tweeted last week that since he's a very active president, it's not always possible for his surrogates to speak with flawless accuracy.

Three government officials, who were not identified, confirmed to NBC News that the information came from Israel.

V30 to be LG's first OLED phone, launch set for September 2017
Unlike Apple, LG will be relying on its sister company LG Display as its OLED provider. The company previously used the screen technology for the LG G Flex back in 2013.

Both reports were at first denied and then rebutted by the White House.

Trump abruptly fired Comey last week, saying he did so based on his very public handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe.

And the administration is still reeling from Trump's abrupt firing of Comey.

The intensifying drama comes as Trump is set to embark Friday on his first foreign trip, which had been optimistically viewed by some aides as an opportunity to reset an administration floundering under an inexperienced president.

The back-to-back controversies threatened to further erode the credibility of the White House, which was already diminishing.

Comey's memo detailing his conversation with Trump would be the clearest evidence to date that the president has tried to influence that investigation.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer got off to a rocky start with beat reporters on the second day of the administration when he delivered a tirade about reporting on the Inauguration Day crowds.

Yet despite the anxiety and displeasure voiced by McCain and a handful of other prominent GOP lawmakers, Republicans did not appear poised to abandon a president who remains critical to their goals of acting on health care and tax legislation.

On Capitol Hill, Democrats and Republicans alike expressed concern. Sen. After the news broke of the Comey memo, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., stood in the chamber and said, "I say to all of my colleagues in the Senate - history is watching".

Republicans were more circumspect but also clearly upset.

Trump has the power to declassify anything, but sharing information without permission of the ally who provided it represents "a major breach of espionage etiquette, and could jeopardize a crucial intelligence-sharing relationship", according to the New York Times.

Trump later was informed that he had broken protocol and White House officials placed calls to the National Security Agency and the CIA looking to minimise any damage.

Trump also reportedly boasted to the Russians about the intelligence he was receiving, telling the two men, "I get great intel". Comey created several memos of encounters with Trump to ensure that a record would exist of conversations he found odd or troubling, according to the person. However, The Post story and other subsequent reports didn't say that it was sources, methods or military operations discussed, but simply classified information.

The Flynn-related report came some 24 hours after the Washington Post dropped a bombshell article revealing that Trump had disclosed highly classified intelligence obtained by Israel to Russians officials -Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and its ambassador to the US, Sergey Kislyak - in the White House last week.
