White House Cites Rumor, Innuendo in Criticizing Sally Yates

White House Cites Rumor, Innuendo in Criticizing Sally Yates

Sean Spicer added that if Barack Obama's administration was truly concerned about Michael Flynn, then they could have suspended his security clearance.

The warning, first reported by NBC News, came up during a discussion of White House personnel.

The highly anticipated hearing - it was Yates' first appearance on Capitol Hill since her firing - before a Senate panel investigating Russian interference in the presidential election was expected to fill in basic details in the chain of events that led to Flynn's ouster. Despite open support from Donald Trump and others aligned with the U.S. President, Le Pen lost to the more moderate candidate, Emmanuel Macron. Later that day, at the White House, she warned McGahn that White House officials were making statements "that we knew not to be the truth". The Russians also knew. "And again our concern was that you have a very sensitive position like the national security adviser and you don't want that person to be in a position where the Russians have leverage over them".

The specter of Yates' testimony was not lost on Trump, who early Monday fired off two tweets distancing the administration from Flynn while suggesting that Yates may have leaked information about her actions related to the former national security adviser.

Sally Yates didn't bring a smoking gun to the latest episode of the long-running political melodrama entwining the White House and Russian Federation.

Coach confirms acquisition of Kate Spade
Coach CEO Victor Luis says that the acquisition will differentiate the company's brand positioning, especially with millennials. Coach said it expects the deal to general approximately $50m in synergies within three years of closing.

It wasn't the only topic covered in the three-hour hearing. He estimated Russia's meddling in the 2016 had cost that country about $200 million.

The implication from both officials' testimonies was that there may, indeed, be evidence of collusion - this after months of the White House arguing that Clapper was clear there is no evidence. He said the White House acted quickly, but also wanted to make sure Flynn was afforded an "element of due process". Yates said that in her meetings, McGahn "demonstrated that he understood this was serious".

After Monday's hearing, Trump took to Twitter to bash the media and deny any collusion.

Yates said she offered no opinion on Flynn's continuing service, but conveyed the "urgent" nature of her concerns. McGahn asked at a second meeting the next day, according to Yates.

Would the Justice Department pursue a criminal case against Flynn? Amy Klobuchar, Yates said she did not know about the travel ban before it was issued.

China may also have conflicting strategic priorities as its seeks to navigate the dispute, Anonymous observed. The conclusion of the video is an eerie warning to global viewers: "Prepare for what comes next.

Yates also noted during her testimony that "several court decisions since that time" have questioned the legality of the January 27 travel ban and looked at Trump's intent behind the order. You know, the White House has given different answers for the lag.

Would taking action against Flynn immediately interfere with the FBI's investigation? And could he see the evidence?

Yates' warning about Flynn capped weeks of concern among top Obama officials, former officials told the AP.

Clinton last week partly blamed her upset loss to Trump on the release of the emails before the November election.

"The White House's failure to mention the attack on one of America's oldest allies has anxious Democrats, cyber policy specialists and former White House officials who say the omission reveals a troubling inability to call out Russian Federation over its digital aggression", reports Politico's Eric Geller.
