Protest erupts as Interior secretary visits Utah

U.S. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is set to start a four-day Utah trip to assess whether the designation of 3.2 million acres of national monuments in the state's southern red rock region should be scaled back or rescinded. The family carried signs demanding, "Keep public lands in public hands". The Department of the Interior announced Friday that it's opening up public comment periods for Hanford Reach, Cascade-Siskiyou and Craters of the Moon national monuments.

Supervisor Hilda Solis said she and Rep.

"Millions of Americans of all backgrounds have come together over the past 21 years to firmly support protection of our nation's important parks and wild places".

The Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument was established in 2000 and expanded by President Obama in 2017, from 65,000 acres to 113,000 acres.

At a recent meeting, the San Gabriel Mountains Community Collaborative, made up of 46 members from a wide variety of interests, agreed that the best way to show the president that their monument should remain untouched is to plead their case in person to someone sent to the 346,000 acre preserve by the administration.

Mourinho accepts top four finish is impossible
When I played for United against Arsenal , I always thought I was going into a situation that was totally out of my comfort zone. Manchester stay fifth, four points behind Man City in fourth while Arsenal are two points further back with a game in hand.

Under the Antiquities Act of 1906 the president has the authority to create a national monument. "They will do so again to see these remarkable lands and waters saved for all time".

Though Trump said he was in favor of federal control of public lands during the 2016 campaign, he has recently fallen more in line with Republican orthodoxy on the issue and said he wants to give more control to the states.

"For them to be here for 130 years, they should at least understand the Native Americans now", says Kenneth Maryboy, a chapter president.

They would be severely restricted on what they could or could not do on the land.

Palace win proves Spurs can be kings
In the first-half, the 24-year-old was undoubtedly the most exciting player on the pitch, as he terrorised the right wing. But our fatigue told in the end and that made it hard to put them under serious pressure in the second-half.

"Today's action, initiating a formal public comment process finally gives a voice to local communities and states when it comes to Antiquities Act monument designations", Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke said. Mike Crapo, also R-Idaho, introduced similar legislation in 2015.

At the media appearance, Hatch introduced the secretary as someone who is "experienced in Western lands" and "understands what we're up against".

The review does not necessarily mean that any of those monuments will be stripped of their designations, though it's clear the administration intends to shrink the amount of land and water designated as monuments and, in the process, open up that land to energy development and other activities.

They fear hunting, fishing, grazing, collecting firewood, motorized travel - multiple uses of the land - will be chipped away and restricted until the activities are eventually gone. "I can just tell you it will never cease until the far left gets their way in locking up all these lands in Utah, and we're just not going to allow that".

The ads are running in Utah, because of Bears Ears' location, and Montana, where Zinke calls home.

Homes have been evacuated in that borough as well as on the two nearby islands, Ile-Bizard and the smaller Ile-Mercier. Picard said the Canadian Red Cross is prepared to mobilize more volunteers should the situation in Quebec worsen.

Moving forward, Zinke encouraged Utahns wanting to weigh in on the review to visit regulations.gov in the coming weeks to leave a comment.
