Jason Chaffetz Won't Seek Re-Election, Utah Governor Run Rumors Persist

According to a statement posted to Chaffetz' public Facebook page, he has chose to leave public service and go back to working in the private sector, despite his stated confidence that he would have held onto his seat in next year's election.

The chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee says he won't run for Congress or "any office" in 2018, stoking speculation that he may be eyeing the governor's race in his home state. "I have long advocated public service should be for a limited time and not a lifetime or full career", Chaffetz said in a statement posted to his official Facebook page.

The Utah Republican said in a Facebook post that there were "no ulterior motives" behind the move, and he was confident he would still be re-elected by wide margins, had he decided otherwise. For now at least, Jason Chaffetz is preparing to enter the private sector when his current term expires, Fox News reports.

Palestinians Stage Massive Hunger Strike To Protest Israeli Jails
However, Palestinians from the West Bank need an entry permit to enter Israel and the Israeli authorities often deny such permits. Various organizations are estimating the number of prisoners involved in the strike between 1,100-1,500.

Chaffetz has represented Utah in the House of Representatives since 2009, after he defeated incumbent Rep. Chris Cannon for the GOP nomination.

The Utah Republican said a year ago he was not interested in running for the Senate. Republicans won't admit this publicly, but they are growing increasingly more fearful of losing the House in 2018. Even after Mr. Trump had triumphed over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, Chaffetz had promised to continue investigating Clinton's use of a private email server while she was secretary of State.

And like many Republican members of Congress, Chaffetz faced a fiery crowd in a town hall in February.

United States 'not looking for fight' with North Korea
A senior North Korean official then accused the United States of bringing the countries to the brink of thermonuclear war. Both Japan and South Korea are home to tens of thousands of USA troops.

Chaffetz's remarks on a possible early departure from office were first reported by KSL Radio in Salt Lake City.

Chaffetz's announcement follows months of fundraising efforts by his Democratic challenger, Kathryn Allen, who has raised about $400,000 this year for a total of more than $534,000 in her campaign account.

Of course, voters won't have the opportunity to see how the political battle would play out because Chaffetz is stepping aside in 2018. "It is an honor to serve with Jason on the Oversight Committee, and I wish him and his family all the best in the next chapter of their lives".

Pique trusts Barca at Bernabeu
MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI , Juventus manager, on his side's growing maturity in continental competition in the last few years. Barca defender Gerard Pique recognised that Juventus had deserved to go through over the two legs.

"Chairman Chaffetz' behavior has always been beneath the dignity of the office he holds and he should step down as Chairman of the Oversight Committee immediately", said Tyler Law, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spokesman.
