Emirates Airlines Cuts Flights Due To Trump's Travel Bans

Emirates, the Middle East's largest airline, said yesterday that it will reduce flights to the United States after tightened visa and security measures under President Donald Trump hit demand.

Today, Emirates announced it will be reducing flights to five of the 12 us destinations it now serves-perhaps the first sign that a series of policy changes affecting the ease of travel from the Middle East to the having tangible effects on passenger numbers.

Starting May 1, the airline will reduce its daily service to Fort Lauderdale to five days a week, and Orlando will follow suit on May 23.

Emirates' main hub - the global airport in Dubai, which is also the world's third busiest worldwide airport, is the main transit point for passengers affected by the temporary cessation of USA access to six-nation citizens.

How President Trump Has Changed His Tune on Global Deals
The administration said it has extended the sanctions relief to Iran in exchange for curbs on its nuclear programme. He had said in January 2016, after the deal was implemented, that "Iran will not get its hands on a nuclear bomb".

Despite both bans being blocked by USA judges, large numbers of people have been deterred from traveling to the US.

Last month, the USA banned laptops and other electronic devices larger than a mobile phone from cabin luggage on flights to the United States from 10 airports, including Dubai and many other airports in North Africa, Turkey, and the Middle East. Travel ban on people traveling from Muslim countries is another factor.

"We will closely monitor the situation with the view to reinstate and grow our USA flight operations as soon as viable", the company said, adding it "is committed to our United States operations and will continue to serve our 12 American gateways". This was the strongest sign yet that new rules about US-bound travelers from the Middle East could be taking a financial toll on fast-growing Gulf carriers that have expanded rapidly in the United States.

Like its smaller Gulf rivals Qatar Airways and Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways, Emirates has ramped up its US presence and recently launched a new service to Newark via Athens.

But such hopes appeared optimistic as the diplomats outlined their sharply diverging views on Syria. And he suggested that possible war crimes charges could be levied against the Syrian leader.

Travelers can still bring their mobile phones on board with them, and US airlines are not affected.

Gulf carrier blames the laptop ban and other recent U.S. decisions.

Emirates said last month that it was introducing a "laptop and tablet handling service" for US -bound flights which would allow passengers to use their devices until just before they board.

Starting next month the number of flights from Dubai to Orlando and Ft.

Clark said he does not see Emirates' decision to cut flights in the a victory for his American critics, insisting Emirates would not "be scared off by what people say". "Every limiting security message needs to be offset by a honest welcome to legitimate, lawful travellers".
