Bernie Sanders Gives a Barn-Burning Speech in Mitch McConnell's Backyard

Sanders and Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez, who faced some boos as he spoke, launched a cross-country "Come Together and Fight Back' tour together in ME, where Sanders won the Democratic presidential caucuses". In a Monday morning interview on NPR, Perez praised Mello and said that Democrats had contributed to the Kansas race in ways that perhaps had gone unseen. He replaced Allison Tant, who didn't run for re-election after four years as party chairwoman.

I mean, the point here is that, I think, all over grassroots America, whether they're Democrats, independents or Republicans, people are perceiving that Trump did not tell the truth in his campaign in terms of what he would do as president of the United States.

And offered a solution, saying that it is the crowd's job to bring "millions of people into the political process". Democrats hailed Thompson's unexpectedly strong performance but party strategists came under fire for not investing more in Thompson's campaign. The partnership is not without some irony. Perez defeated Sander's preferred candidate to lead the DNC, Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison in late-February.

The hyperactive Perez was followed on stage by the smoother presence of Sanders, who delivered a hardcore socialist message to the largely millennial audience in a grandfatherly manner.

National Basketball Association roundup: Bulls seize 2-0 lead over Celtics
The loss left certain fans swearing left and right , so Boston better amp up the D if they don't want to hear any more F-bombs. Khris Middleton added 20 points for Milwaukee, who will seek to regain the series edge when they host game three on Thursday.

But Perez disagreed with that assessment in an interview with NPR on Monday ahead of the tour. Kentucky is a state where Democrats used to own the governorship. The 40-year-old Atlanta-area activist in the Black Lives Matter movement volunteered for Sanders' campaign last year. We were monitoring the election very closely with the state party. During this congressional recess, Perez should be touring the nation with Democratic officeholders in each state - those men and women who have won office as Democrats because they found the way to reach their constituency.

All this inside baseball of the Democratic Party is notable for how little attention it has gotten in the mainstream media, which lately has been far more interested in how Trump is supposedly changing conservatism.

"Those Republican leaders and President Trump don't give a s**t about the people they were trying to hurt", a wild-eyed Perez, arms flailing, yelled at the crowd. "Today's stop in Portland is nothing more than a dog and pony show that fails to address the deep divisions in the Democrat Party". Certainly, Trump is challenging some orthodox conservative positions, especially on free trade and government spending.

"No, I am an independent", Sanders replied, before launching into a lengthy explanation of what ailed the party - whose nomination he sought in 2016 - and what it needs to do in order to reclaim power.

Vikings Scheduled For Opener Vs. New Orleans At Home
The Vikings have another Monday night game October 9 in Chicago and a Saturday night game December 23 in Green Bay. The Saints will play three out of four on the road with one of those being a trip to London.

The irony is that those who lionize Sanders still don't seem all that concerned about the things he cares about. The two are traveling across the country in what they're calling the "Come Together and Fight Back Tour" in an effort to mobilize the party's grassroots.

Sanders is right on that count.

Florida is ready to Feel the Bern Wednesday evening - Vermont Sen. and former Democratic presidential primary candidate Bernie Sanders is heading to the Magic City in the Sunshine State as part of the Democratic National Committee's tour to turn states blue in 2018 and beyond.
