PlayStation 4 consoles may attract roaches, repairmen say

The independent console fix shop owner noticed that many of his patrons had roach issues with their PS4s.

During an interview Kotaku had with XCubicle co-founder Patrick Che, he went to state all the types of repairs his shop gets when it comes to gaming consoles day to day.

Its co-founder, Patrick Che, was listing the types of fix issues he encounters on a day-to-day basis: coins inside disc drives, 3DS mods gone wrong.

Those "roach bags", it turns out, were full because roaches see game consoles as convenient roach motels. "Those are all dead by now". The store receives at least one roach-infested PS4 a week, and now charges a $25 "roach fee" to deal with such cases.

In cities, anywhere dark and warm runs the risk of hosting the awful Periplaneta Americana.

In an interview with Kotaku, Patrick Che of Manhattan-based XCubicle, a console fix shop, told the blog that the pests, which tend to reside in warm dark places, love Sony's game console.

For starters, the console's wide ventilation grates at the bottom make it easy for roaches to enter.

Alert McDonald's worker helps police find Steve Stephens
Eleven minutes after that, according to the social media site, he broadcast a live video of himself confessing to the murder. After a brief pursuit, he pulled over, and as officers approached the vehicle , he took his own life, authorities said.

Sony's PlayStation 4, though, apparently is prone to a bug problem that is both very literal and very disgusting.

But why do roaches love the PS4 more than, say, the XBox One or various Nintendo products? Primarily, consoles can attract bugs because they're often kept inside of home entertainment centers, and provide the kind of dark, warm environment that insects prefer. But despite how common the problem appears to be, Sony doesn't accept fix requests for insect-infested PS4s. However, Sony did take on backwards-compatibility in a different route. Instead, independent console repairmen have the pleasure of scrubbing the roach crap off your console's power supply. The PS4s just stop working and the owners don't know why. It's not the best home for a roach, though.

And if that wasn't bad enough, roaches are reportedly one of the main causes of PS4 breakdowns. "Their poop color is distinct and has a certain smell to it". Try to find a place to put your console that isn't the floor. They also sterilize the interior with an ultrasonic cleaner before putting the PlayStation back together.
