Seattle mayor accused of raping crack addicted boys and paying them $10

The Seattle Times reports that a 46 year-old Kent man who goes by the initials D.H. filed a lawsuit against Seattle Mayor Ed Murray on Thursday seeking damages for child sex abuse and illegal child prostitution.

The Seattle Times has investigated this claim in depth, along with the stories of two other men who also say Murray abused them when they were young.

"These false accusations are meant to damage a prominent elected official who has been a defender of vulnerable populations for decades", said a statement issued by Reading.

Spokesman Jeff Reading called the lawsuit a "shakedown effort" timed weeks before the May 19 mayoral campaign filing deadline.

Little more than two hours later, Gorsuch took the judicial oath administered by Kennedy in the Rose Garden. He also provides the court with something it has lacked since 2010: a Protestant.

Q13 News obtained a copy of the lawsuit, which was filed in King County Superior Court and alleges Murray sexually abused the teen on a number of occasions, beginning in 1986, for payments of $10 and $20.

In a press conference at his attorney's downtown Seattle legal offices, Murray said, "Let me be clear, these allegations dating to a period of more than 30 years are simply not true".

Murray, 61, said that the allegations were a matter for the courts to decide and promised to stay in the race. Murray, in his early 30s at the time, paid D.H. for sex acts at his home in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, the lawsuit says. On Thursday Murray was accused by three men of sexual abuse in the 1980s, including in a lawsuit.

"He would do special things, take me to movies", recalled Simpson of the time he spent with Murray.

"I have been dealing with this for over 30 years", the man, now sober for a year, said in an interview with The Seattle Times. "Neither the Seattle Times nor other media publicly reported the allegations, and Murray's political career continued to rise". Reading said they'd been "promoted by extreme right-wing antigay activists" during the state's battle over gay marriage.

Simpson said his message to other victims is, "don't give up", and he hopes they'll find the courage to come forward when they're ready. Mr Simpson claimed Murray raped him for several years, starting at age of 13. "It is painful to my husband and for those who are close to us", said Murray, who is homosexual. "But I believe a lot of the problems I have stemmed from this".

A spokesperson for Murray denied the allegations, calling them "categorically false".

The complaint states that disturbed that Murray maintains a position of authority, and that the public has a right to know when a trusted official exploits a child.

Murray ended up working a paralegal with public defender lawyers in Portland before returning to Seattle and joining the vanguard of the gay rights movement in the 1980s, serving as campaign manager for Cal Anderson, a Seattle state senator who was the state's first openly gay member. Murray was also the prime sponsor of the 2002 safe schools bill protecting sexual minority youth in schools and a landmark bill banning discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation that was signed into law in 2006. As mayor, he pushed through a measure to raise Seattle's minimum wage to $15 an hour.
