NY [U.S.], March 21: Russian Opposition leader Alexei Navalny, was attacked with green dye by an unknown assailant in the Siberian city of Barnaul, which left him looking like a character out of "Shrek", but taking the matter in his stride the opposition leader has made the best of the situation and is garnering massive support across the globe now.

One prominent blogger was detained after being seen in Red Square, with his face painted green in solidarity with the opposition leader, the New York Times reported.

The attack reportedly happened as the leading Kremlin critic and anti-corruption campaigner stopped to shake a man's hand in the Siberian city of Barnaul.
